For decades, the nonprofit Cleveland Blues Society has been cheerleading for this traditional music genre, spotlighting local blues performers and hosting events.

One of its regular events since 2008 is its monthly blues jam, which takes place at various area nightclubs, hosted each month by a local blues band. This month it’s at the Music Box Supper Club. Hosting the event is Cleveland Blues Society Hall of Fame indictee, bass player Gene Schwatz, who played with Robert Lockwood Jr and in the Schwartz Brothers, with his late brother, guitarist Glenn Schwartz. He’ll be bringing his G-Force Band which includes bassist Charlie Christopherson and drummer Hank Hess.

Bring your instrument to play or just come to listen. Admission is free. Doors open at 5:30 to hang out or order some food.
