Akron’s downtown outdoor stages at Lock 3 and Lock 4 (adjacent to the Akron Civic Theatre) kick off their summer season with a band and a blast of mostly outstanding local music, which blends genres in interesting ways. Bands include Cleveland’s wildly entertaining soulful rock collective Apostle Jones; former Michael Stanley & the Resonators guitarist Marc Lee Shannon who has released several albums of his own; jazz sax player/composer Ronell Regis; soul/jazz/hip-hop bassist/producer Smokeface; Akron hip/hop/funk/rock band Red Rose Panic; and disco tribute band Disco Inferno. Music will be staggered between the two stages.
