LakewoodAlive’s Front Porch concert series always features some of the best and most diverse local acts available, performing for free on the front steps of the downtown branch of the Lakewood Public Library on Detroit Avenue.
The final concert to take place at the library (they have two more at the Madison Park Pavilion) epitomizes one type of community diversity. The Cleveland Pride Band features amateur musicians of all skill levels from the LGBTQ+ community (which in Lakewood is very large) and allies: all are welcome to join this happy crew, which began life as the Blazing River Freedom Band back in 2003 and became a regular participant in Pride parades. It rebranded in 2023 as the Cleveland Pride Band and since then, has been performing more concerts as well. Expect to hear exhilarating, uplifting and familiar tunes when this group (which can max out at 100 musicians) crowds onto the front steps of the library to spread some joy.
