Thu 6/18-Sun 6/28
Once again, Canalway Partners celebrates its annual Cleveland History Days, which launched in 2018 to give people a chance to learn more about their own city’s background. This tear, it offers eleven days of walks, talks, panel discussions, open houses and special events, co-hosted with an array of partners, businesses and institutions across the city. There are more than 75 events in all, culminating in a free community picnic on Saturday June 27 at Canal Basin Park. Most events are free.
You can tour and learn more about such landmarks as City Hall, the grain silos at Cleveland Centre Historic District, the Western Reserve Fire Museum, League Park, Lake View Cemetery and many more. Highlights are too numerous to mention; you can find a full schedule here.
It kicks off on Thursday June 18 with a Take a Hike tour of the streetcar level of the Detroit-Superior Bridge, another of the Erie Street Cemetery, a guided tour of the recently updated KeyBank Heritage Center, a Cuyahoga River boat excursion, a walk through Trinity Cathedral in the campus district, a Polish Heritage tour in Slavic Village, a Warehouse District public art tour, the American Dream film series at the Cleveland History Center, and a program on the legendary Cleveland-based TV music showcase, the Upbeat Show, at the Music Box Supper Club. And that’s just Day One.
