TV personality Ernie Anderson, better known as “Ghoulardi,” had an incalculable impact on northeast Ohio pop culture, even though he was just on the air here for three years in the mid 60s, before moving to Los Angeles to become a voice-over artist. But while here, he established the model for the late-night B-movie show host, later followed by personalities such as “Big Chuck and Lil’ John” and Ron “The Ghoul” Sweed.

Authors Janice and Mike Olszewski have become the premiere storytellers of Cleveland’s pop culture history, especially its TV manifestations. And they’ll soon be publishing yet another book, this one focused on Anderson, Sweed and Northeast Ohio-born and -raised actor Tim Conway who launched his career working with Anderson.

They’ll preview the book at a special event taking place at the City of Macedonia Community Room (9691 Valley View Road) to benefit the Longwood Manor Historical Society restoration project. It will focus on rare and vintage films featuring the three performers, some unseen for six decades. Included are recently discovered Ghoulardi, Conway outtakes from McHale’s Navy, some of Big Chuck’s earliest work and restored footage of Anderson and Conway’s stint as a comedy duo.

To make a reservation email LMHS1926@AOL.COM or jannmike1978@gmail.com. Admission is free, but of course donations to the project will be welcomed enthusiastically.
