The Vindys first came together in Youngstown 15 years ago. They didn’t make an instant splash; they spent a few years developing their sound and slowly building up a following in their own area before it started to spill over and make them a regional sensation. They released a seven-track EP Red Wine in 2014; the nine-track Keep Going in 2016 gave them some serious momentum. They dropped their latest album Bugs in 2022, and soon after that, they made a lucky connection with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, who, impressed by the band’s sizzling live performances, took them on tour across the U.S. in 2024 and 2025 as their opening act.
Charismatic frontwoman, singer/guitarist/lyricist Jackie Popovec, is the band’s main selling point with a powerful yet subtle howl that evokes classic R&B vocalists such as Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner, but she’s also capable of introspective, jazzy vocals. She’s well supported by core band members John Anthony and Rick Deak on guitars and harmony vocals, along with drummer Owen Davis, bassist Brendan Burke and keyboard player Nathan Anthony
The opening act is Detroit-based Americana band Jackamo, fronted by two sister vocalists Alison and Tessa Wiercioch.
They’re back at the Music Box Supper Club on Thursday October 15. Go HERE for tickets.
