Thu 10/22 @ 7PM
A few months, Cleveland-based music manager David Spero, who has worked with artists such as Joe Walsh, Don Felder of the Eagles, and Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers, hosted a Cleveland Stories program at the Music Box Supper Club, in which he reminisced about his years working with Cleveland’s nationally syndicated music program The Upbeat Show(1964-1971), produced by his father Herman Spero. Starting as the cue card holder at the age of 13, David worked his way up to becoming an integral part of the show’s staff. He came to the club armed with clips, many of them hilariously dated, as well as stories about the many artists, both major and obscure, who appeared on the show.
But it was clear there were many more stories to be told about The Upbeat Show’s seven-year run, so he’s pack, armed with even more entertaining clips. He’ll show them and chat with the Music Box’s Mike Miller about behind-the-scenes happenings. Doors open at 5pm for dinner; storytelling starts at 7. It’s free to attend. Make a reservation HERE.
