Peninsula’s Music on the Porches returns for a day of mostly Americana and acoustic folk music, the type of music that sounds best on casual settings and outdoor locations.
Wander around town to hear free music in a variety of locations. At Peninsula Village Antiques, you can catch singer songwriters Johnny G and Matt Harmon. Sister in Song — Rachel Brown, Becky Boyd and Kristine Jackson — will be blending their powerful voices at Bronson Green at 12:15, followed by Tall Paul and Western Drawl at 2, and Hunter Skeen and the Forerunners’ progressive bluegrass at 4. At other locations around town you can listen to Matt Dunklebergers’s “Dunks” Mandolins; singer-songwriters Randy Horvatt, Josee McGeem Bethany Joy, Dan Socha, Julia Taylor, and Ray Flanagan, bluegrass band the Sugar Mules, Country Honk, Louisiana-influenced swamp rockers Cats on Holiday, Appalachian mountain music from the Upstream Drifters,, Mr. Haney’s old time stringband and a Celtic jam, followed by a Celtic instrument “petting zoo.”
G.A.R. Hall, a regular music venue, will hosts singer/songwriter Chris Allen at noon, Laurie and Ed Caner of Hey Mavis at 1:30pm, and a G.A.R. Grassjam hosted by Paul Kovac at 5:15 — you can join in!
There are kids’ activities on the lawn, and plenty of places to eat as well as shops to browse in the small quaint Peninsula downtown. The festival is free; go HERE for updates and a full schedule.
