Akron’s eight-piece roots-rock ensemble Wishgarden incorporate instruments such as flute, sax, trombone and even djembe into its music which blends rock, pop, folk and soul influences into a engaging and accessible sound. It kicked off this year’s Downtown@Dusk series at the Akron Art Museum in July, mixing its own tunes with classical covers by artist such as Bob Dyaln, Jimmy Buffett and Cat Stevens, rearranged in its own style.
Now it’s got something even bigger on its schedule: it’s celebrating the release of its album Dusty Roads with what it describes as a “Wishgarden Multi-Media Jam,” taking place at the Akron Civic Theatre’s Knight Stage. The heart of the event will be a live performance of the material from the new album, with videos, and special stage effects. After the set, there’ll be an after-party dance jam. And Akron musician Rachel Roberts will perform a special guest set.
