Abattoir Gallery Goes Monochrome in New Show

Untitled (Dissolve) by Maximilian Schubert

Sat 9/19 @ 5-7PM

The next show at Abattoir Gallery in the Hildebrandt Provisions Building is called Practically Monochrome. It features five artist who intentionally limit their color palettes.

The gallery says, “This installation is designed to activate the gallery space; to have the works together and therein to illuminate similarities and differences among them. What defines a painting, or a sculpture are questions that have interested artists making monochromatic works since the mid- 20th century, and which are borne out in the work on view.”

The artists in the show include Michelle Grabner, Paul O’Keeffe, Ruth Pastine, Shawn Powell and Maximilian Schubert. The show opens with a free, public reception on Saturday September 19 and remains on view through October 31.
