Dave Swanson has been a mainstay of Cleveland’s indie rock scene for decades. The guitarist/vocalist/songwriter/ drummer/bassist has been part of bands such as New Salem Witchhunters, Cobra Verde and Death of Samantha and led bands such as Rainy Day Saints, where his own music, infused with a strong pop sensibility that makes it timeless, was the main attraction.
His latest ensemble, dubbed Dave Swanson’s Mystery Airship, features Swanson on guitar, Jeff Herwick on bass, Scott Pickering on drums and Jessica Horvat on vocals. This weekend the group is launching its debut album DSMA at the Happy Dog. Akron’s Dave Rich & his Enablers (featuring Chris Butler of the Waitresses and David Giffels, author of the new Devo bio) are the special guests. Get tickets here.
