Are you planting seeds?
This week, it’s Lakewood’s turn to kick off their first-ever GardenWalk. Their cool downloadable map lets you walk or bike to 30+ beautiful home gardens. While you’re in town, don’t miss checking out Summer Meltdown right down the middle of Detroit Avenue. The Tamir Rice Foundation is dedicating a memorial garden, Middle Bass Island mounts a Music Fest while Countryside Market hosts Christmas in July. It’s all about fun this week: Our Lady of Mt Carmel Italian Festival in Gordon Square pulls it off for the 96th time, while FRONT and CAN Triennials and BorderLight Festival are coming round again for seconds. It’s a week for art & healing at CMA, finding rock & roll treasure at the Beachland Flea, Partying in the Park in Painsville, and for sipping bourbon with Pat Benatar’s Cleveland native husband Neil Giraldo prior to their show in Akron.

Of course, changing the world while having fun is the best of all worlds. LegalWorks is offering clinics all summer to remove barriers to employment for those in need. EDWINS is hosting a Bastille Day benefit to support their work with the formerly incarcerated. And don’t miss our roundup of fun get-togethers with like-minded citizens doing everything from coffee and conversation to Bingo and phone banking. Come November, after the election, you’ll want to know you did everything you could. Walk, bike or run, just don’t stand still. Plant some seeds.
