Transformer Station Offers Music Video to Go Along with Photo Show

The current exhibit at the (currently closed) Transformer Station is called (Human) Landscapes. It features nighttime Cleveland scenes by photographer Dave Jordano, a Chicago-based photographer who was invited to come to Cleveland in the summer of 2019 to take the same kind of night scenes he’d photographed for his 2018 book A Detroit Nocturne, dedicated to his hometown.

To add a little authentic Cleveland to the mix, the Transformer Station commissioned performances by three local musicians/ensembles that echo the themes in Jordano’s work, capturing what the call “the spirit and the struggle of the city.”

The latest of these is the two-man group Obnox, fronted by Lamont “Bim” Thomas, who’ve released a flurry of recordings in the last decade capturing their intelligent, pointed post-punk rock. You can watch their video here.

You can learn more about the exhibit and find links to the previous two musical performances, by Kyle Kidd and Co and Latoya Kent, here.
