The Yards Project at the Worthington Yards Apartment presents Residents Select, a show in which the building’s occupants choose the art they’d like to have hang in their lobby gallery space for the next two months. It’s part of Yards Project’s efforts to engage people with local art, familiarize them with it and get them excited about the possibility of living with it.
A committee of six Worthington Yards residents and staff members sorted through 70 submissions from area artists to choose a dozen for the show. Since the jury wasn’t composed of people familiar with the local “art stars,” or who came to the process with preconceived ideas about art, the selections included both some well-known names and artists the average gallery goers has probably never heard of.
Artists included in the exhibition are Donna Coleman, Lisa Schonberg, Eva Kwong, Samantha Bias, Jordan Mastrocola, Tricia Kaman, Lucas Patrick, Jessie Horning, Justin Brennan, Buzz Szilagyi, Don Penn and Kate Snow.
The show opens with a free, public reception Thu 1/9 @ 5:30-8pm. The work is on view every day.
