Secondhand Mutts Holds 11th Annual Pancake Barkfeast Benefit

Sat 2/1 @ 9AM-noon

Since 2006, Tremont-based nonprofit Secondhand Mutts has worked to provide dogs who have been abandoned with the veterinary care, socialization and training they need to be adopted into forever homes. In that time, they’ve rehomed more than 2,000 dogs.

The all-volunteer organization is hosting its 11th annual Pancake Barkfeast, featuring omelets created by local chef. Nine local chefs have been lined up to do their thing, including Eowyn Adams of Sodexo, Joy Harlor from Le Petit Triangle Café, Christopher Kafcsak from Nomad Culinary Saucisson’s Melissa Khoury, Ricardo Sandoval, owner of Lava Lounge/Fat Cats, Richard Arnoldi from Turn Bar + Kitchen Rick Milovanovic from Tremont Taphouse, Opal on Pearl’s Susan Walters and Taylo Worthly, Cleveland Vegan Catering, Café & Bakery.

The basic breakfast include plain buttermilk and chocolate-filled pancakes, with seasoned potatoes, sausage, bacon, turkey bacon, vegetarian protein, orange juice and fresh brewed coffee. Kids, vegetarian and vegan servings are available.

You might want to give a little donation on top of the ticket price as well. Because animal lovers are such bighearted people, Secondhand Mutts is donating some of the proceeds to an Australian nonprofit domestic animal rescue that’s been impacted by the massive brushfires there.

The breakfast takes place at St. Ignatius High School’s Rade Hall Dining Room. Adult tickets are $18; kids’ tickets are $12.
