Apollo's Fire Musicians Face Off in "Fencing Match"

Thu 4/16 @ 7:30PM

When Cleveland’s baroque orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, hosts Round Two of it Fencing Match, there will be no weapons involved unless you take a dim view of flutes, recorders, cellos and violins. They say the inspiration of this event was an 18th-century tradition when musicians faced off to show off their skills.

Several of its star musicians will be in the spotlight including Kathie Stwart (flute), Daphna Mor (recorders), Alan Choo and Emi Tanabe (violins) and Rebecca Landell (cello) as they take the program — featuring double concertos by Bach and Vivaldi, among others — out for a test run before taking it across the ocean to London.

The performance takes place at Avon Lake’s United Church of Christ. Get tickets here.
