Photographer GM Donley is back at Cleveland Heights’ Foothill Galleries of the Photo-Succession, with another group of photos from his decades-long project Place/Time. It continues his interest in the landscape as he creates long, horizontal composites of images that have a cinematic feel. His latest series is called 8 x two and it includes 16 pieces that are eight inches high and eight feet long, arranged in groups of two that interact with each other.
“As I was preparing for this show, certain pieces seemed to keep sidling up to others,” says Donley. “That got me thinking about what always happens in galleries or museums—works that share the same wall space can’t help but converse with each other whether or not that’s necessarily the intention. This exhibition idea is about encouraging them to talk.”
The show opens with a pair of free, public receptions on Thursday April 16, so you can stop in before or after work, as you prefer. It will be on view through June 5.
