“Glow” Is Back for the Holidays at the Cleveland Botanical Garden

Fri 11/23-Sat 1/4/20

People are addicted to Christmas displays. Throw up a lot of lights and decorations and they’ll come flocking. The magic never seems to wear off.

One of the most extravagant and beautifully executed of such displays is the Cleveland Botanical Garden’s annual Glow, which opens again this week and runs until after New Year’s. This year’s theme is Holiday Hollows, which aims to recreate the warmth and comfort of holidays at home.

Of course, there will be trees lining the hallways — and let’s not fight over whether they are CHRISTMAS trees or HOLIDAY trees, the way some politicians are doing in Wisconsin, OK? They’re whatever you want them to be! These firs will be decorated by northeast Ohio garden clubs. Naturally, the popular gingerbread houses will be back, handmade by individuals, families and organizations. And the mini-train will again take kids through decorated outdoor gardens to learn where animals live during the winter.

There’ll also be an indoor kids play area with hands-on craft activities, snowman dress up and fort-building, a gnome scavenger hunt, and seasonal beverages for purchase in the Garden Café. Of course, the Garden Store will be stocked with holiday-themed gifts and cards, a great place to do some shopping, especially for the nature-lovers on your list.

Glow is open Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday @ 10am-6pm; Thursday and Friday @ 10am-9pm; and Sunday @ noon-6pm, except Christmas and New Year’s Day. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for kids 3-12.
