Sunday Forum Addresses How to Reverse Ohio’s Hostility Toward Clean Energy

Sun 11/1 @ 9-10PM

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland’s bi-weekly “Forums That Matter” series looks at an issue this week that is critical to our future, but has gotten buried in a flood of other issues, such as the cost of living, government corruption and the wars in Iran and Ukraine. That issue is the environment and the transition to clean energy. Thousands of times more money has been spent this cycle trying to scare voters about transgender people, an egregiously out of balance emphasis.

The speaker for the forum, called “A Cleaner Energy Future – Moving Away from ‘Fuelish Ohio,” is writer/activist David Beach, long known for his work advocating for a more sustainable approach to urban design, transportation and land use. He’ll talk about how other cities and countries are moving toward clean, renewable energy sources, while Ohio’s infamous HB6/First Energy scandal not only involved money and bribes, but also killed clean energy initiatives in Ohio and funded obsolete dirty coal plants and bailed out unprofitable nuclear plants with taxpayer money.

The forum will explore what steps we can take to reverse the damage the legislature did.

It’s free and open to all.
