Playwrights Local Hosts Its 5th Annual Cleveland Playwrights Festival

Sat 10/12 @ noon-11PM

The mission of Cleveland’s Playwrights Local is to encourage and develop new playwriting talent. It produces new plays, presents staged readings and holds workshop. And it also hosts its annual Cleveland Playwrights Festival, not in its fifth year.

The one-day event, taking place at the Creative Space at Waterloo Arts, will feature plays by 12 playwrights, with guest presentations from the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, the Dramatists Guild – Ohio Region, Literary Cleveland, the NEOMFA Writing Program, Radio on the Lake Theatre and Young Playwrights Collective. They’ll be presented in a variety of formats, primarily staged readings.

It also includes a docudrama playwriting workshop hosted by local playwright Christopher Johnson, and a craft talk with George called “Getting Off on the Right Foot: Strategies on Beginnings,” hosted by Les Hunter.

The festival is free and no registration is required. It’s suitable for teens and adults.
