Parsons Dance Brings Breathtaking Special Effects to Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall

Sat 10/12 @ 7:30PM

The New York-based Parsons Dance was founded in 1985 by choreographer/former Paul Taylor Dance Co dancer David Parsons. The company is known for its acrobatic dances and its use of lighting and special effects to push the envelope of “normal” dance.

When DANCECleveland and the University of Akron Dance Program brings the group back to northeast Ohio for the first time in four years to perform at Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall, they’ll be doing one of their signal pieces, “Caught.” Set to music by King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp, it features a dancer doing 100 jumps in quick succession while a strobe freezes the movement and creates an illusion of flight. With such showstopping effects, the company is an ideal dance experience for families.

The one-night-only performance with include a pre-show talk with Parsons at 6:45pm and a post-performance Q&A with the dancers.

Tickets are $25-$35.
