Cleveland Country Rocker Charles Hill Jr. Is Back from Tour and Playing at Survival Kit Gallery

Sat 10/27 @ 8PM

Cleveland singer/songwriter/guitarist Charles Hill Jr. plays Americana that’s heavy on influences from traditional, tear-in-your-beer country music. It’s leavened with some contemporary influences (NOT contemporary country — god forbid!) but the heartfelt pathos of the honky-tonk always comes through.

Recently, Hill has been on the road, on an 11-date fall tour that’s taken him to Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Fort Worth, St. Louis and Chicago, with local songwriter Michael Sandman along for the ride.

Hill is also finishing up a new album called Old Loves and Old Memories —how’s that for an old-school country name? — a long-overdue follow-up to 2014’s Shootin’ Man, that’s being produced and engineered by the Davenport Collective’s Ben Gmetro (Dreadful Yawns, New Planet Trampoline.)

So what is date #11, if you were counting? He’s wrapping the whole thing up right here in his hometown at the Survival Kit Gallery in the 78th Street Studios, where Sandman, John Kalman and local legend Bill Fox will also perform.
