Cavani String Quartet Plays in Hudson for Music From the Western Reserve

Sun 11/4 @ 5PM

Cleveland’s legendary Cavani String Quartet, which was the quartet in residence at the Cleveland Institute of Music for three decades until last June, is undergoing a period of transition, with a turnover in cellists (one of the justifications CIM gave for their dismissal) and being temporarily without a permanent one. In those 30 years, the ensemble won many awards, travelled the world and seeded other quartets with their talented students.

Still, the group is moving forward, with founding member Annie Fullard (violin, pictured), violinist Mari Sato and violist Eric Wong. They recently did a performance with poet Mwatabu Okantah for Arts Renaissance Tremont, one of a series of performances they’ve done with him, titled “Collage.” Now they’ll be performing a recital for Music from the Western Reserve at Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson.

Guest artists Rebecca Merblum will join them on cello as they perform works Mozart’s String Quartet in G Major; Charles Washington’s “Midnight Child” and Antonin Dvorak’s String Quartet No. 96 in F major.vTickets are $20; students are free.
