The Music Box Introduces Reggae Sunday Matinees Through Late August

Sun 6/17-Sun 8/26 @ 4-8PM

There are few genres of music that capture the sunny, languid spirit of summer as well as reggae, which is like capturing tropical air in sound.

So it’s appropriate that the Music Box Supper Club is starting a series of Reggae Sunday Happy Hours, taking place weekly throughout the summer during a late afternoon/evening hour convenient even for people who’ve got to get to work the next day.

The series opens on 6/17 and closes on 8/26 with the stars of the local reggae scene, the endlessly popular Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band. In between Outlaws I&I, which features many of the former members of First Light, who ruled the local reggae scene from 1984-1997, make four appearances (6/24, 7/8, 7/22, 8/5), Jah Messengers 7/1, 8/19); Columbus’ Ark Band plays 7/15, One World Tribe 7/29 and Umojah Nation 8/12.

Doors open at 3:30 and the indoor/outdoor concerts happen rain or shine. There will be weekly food and drink specials created just for the series. Admission is free.
