See two great orchestras for the price of one when the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra joins the Akron Symphony onstage at E.J. Thomas Hall for an evening dubbed Jazz Meets Symphony.
The concert is a tribute to such pre-WWII jazz stars such as Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Louis Armstrong and Glenn Miller and will feature some of the tunes that they popularized. Special guest performers include vocalist Evelyn Wright, pianist Theron Brown, trumpeter and former artistic director of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra Jack Schantz and Akron Symphony clarinet/sax player Dr. Thomas Reed.
Tickets are $25-$60. There’s an afterparty at Jilly’s Music Room in downtown Akron. There’s no cover.
