Cleveland International Film Festival Hosts Its 42nd Season

Wed 4/4-Sun 4/15

This is the time of year some dedicated film buffs plan their vacations around. It’s the 42nd annual Cleveland International Film Festival. And if you’ve seen its big fat catalogues available for free around town, you have some idea of what a huge event the 12-day feast of cinema is.

It opens with a gala at Playhouse Square on Wed 4/4 with a screening of The Drummer and the Keeper, described as a “heartwarming story [that] shows the strength of the human bond in the face of adversity,” followed by a reception. It closes Sun 4/15 at Tower City Center with the awards ceremony following the final film, which is open to anyone with a ticket to one of the closing night films.

In between Tower City Cinemas will be showing films all day every day, more than any one person can take in. And to make choices even more difficult, in recent years it’s hosted neighborhood screenings at venues such as the Beachland Ballroom, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Cedar Lee Theatre and the Capitol Theatre. Grab one of those catalogues or go here and start planning your viewing.
