One of the highlights (among many) at this month’s 7th Street Studios Third Friday should be the opening of Peek-a-Boo, a Pin Up Girl Exhibition at the E11even2 gallery.
It’s a perfect fit for the gallery, which specializes in affordable art inspired by pop culture icons and themes ranging from the film A Christmas Story to the Beatles. Sixteen area artists will contribute to Peek-a-Boo, which will feature not only pinup- inspired art but live pin-up queens roaming the gallery and posing for photos with visitors.
“I collect pin-up girl tattoos and have always enjoyed those types of iconic images,” says curator/gallery co-owner, Christina Sadowski. “Often people hear erotic and think dirty, but with this show the images are beautiful and classically posed nudes.”
Although there’s nothing dirty, she does warn parents that the show will contain adult themes. It runs through Fri 4/15.
