Cleveland burlesque queen Bella Sin always seems to have a new idea percolating. Whether it’s her 10-year-old troupe Le Femme Mystique, her Ohio Burlesque Fest now in the 4th year, her crusade to place a historical marker on the site of the legendary Roxy Theater downtown, or teaching newbies the burlesque ropes, she’s always up to something.
Her latest project is the Stars & Stripes Ohio Pin-Up Pageant at the Beachland Ballroom. Like her burlesque showcases, which feature a range of body types, this pageant, she says, is about “diversity, unity and inclusivity.” All comers are invited; the only stipulation is that they must be from Ohio.
The contestants will compete in evening and daywear, and do a Miss America-style Q&A to demonstrate personality. We’re sure the questions and answers will be a lot wittier and more freewheeling though, and being outrageous most likely will not lose a competitor any points.
Admission is $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
