Nearly two years in the making, Brian Ruthsatz opened his Rood Food & Pie in Lakewood’s west end in November 2018. The “Miami-style” café with its in-house bakery offers a menu of “build your own” slider plates, including several vegetarian/vegan choices, as well as small plates, entrees and desserts, which change seasonally. And of course there are slices of their distinctive pies, which launched the whole Rood thing. Rood also offers a menu of wines, craft beers, liquor (whiskey, scotch, tequila and more) and cocktails to enhance your meal. There’s also a Sunday brunch from 10am-2pm.
