Animal Collective — four guys who’ve known each other and dabbled in music together since they were teenagers in Baltimore two decades ago — is the ultimate hipster band, a vortex of the coolest musical and cultural references.
Their sometimes interesting, sometimes irritating music meanders between noise pop, psychedelic, and artsy, experimental soundscapes; their creative world has in the past involved costuming, video projects, dancers, and various collaborations (as well as evolutions in their core lineup). And they’re a magnet for gushing praise from the underground music media. Their worshipful followers undoubtedly already have tickets to this House of Blues show.
