Local 90s Favorites The Fifth Wheel Release a New Album

Fri 4/26 @ 5:30-11PM

The Fifth Wheel was part of a wave of northeast Ohio indie rock bands who came out in the early-mid 1990s, created local buzz, released some fine music and — despite a record label treasure hunt for “the next Seattle” never made the leap to the next level. They provided a lot of pleasurable, tuneful music in the meantime.

After their initial run petered out, four of the original members got together in 2015 for a reunion to put out a new CD Even Without Wings to add to their catalog of two mid-90s releases. Vocalist Josh Stone, guitarist Jeff Koval, bassist Tom Weyand and drummer Matt Coughlin have continued writing and playing since then, and are debuting a new album, called Tilt, this week.

They’ll do so with a special record release evening at the Rialto Theatre in Akron. It starts with a 6pm listening part with DJ Ric “Rocco” Bennet, followed by a live show at 7pm hosted by Carrie Danger from Cleveland alternative rocker 107.3. Dave Rich and Samantha Grace will open with a live Fifth Wheel performance concluding the evening.
