Each year for 32 years, Cleveland Public Theatre’s STEP (Student Theatre Enrichment Program) program has assembled a group of high school  students to conceive, write, produce and perform an original play, teaching the a constellation of skills as well as the teamwork theater demands, and giving them a paying summer job. The result of their nine weeks of work is then toured to various locations in the city for free performances.

This year the students are presenting a show called Getting Back to Once Upon a Time, which uses music, dance and spoken work to address the questions it asks and answers: “What do we find when we seek? What do we lose when we find?”

 “The hour-long show takes us on a mythical journey about an intimate community that attempts to understand what stories mean and why they matter while striving to maintain the joy and hope that stories bring,” they share.

It will be performed at eight locations: Herman Park (Thu 7/23 @ 7pm), Woodhill Station West (Fri 7/24 @ 1pm), Lake Pool Park (Sun 7/26 @ 1pm), Outhwaite Homes Community Center (Tue 7/28 @ 6pm), Halloran Park (Wed 7/29 @ 7pm), Riverside Park Community Center (Thu 7/30 @ 6pm), the Romanian Cultural Gardens (Sat 8/1 @ 1pm) and Cleveland Public Theatre (Sun 8/2 @ 7pm)
