We’re glad to see that the Lake Erie Building aka the Screw Factory, in Lakewood, is holding open houses more frequently. The building’s multiple sprawling floors are packed with artists and craftspeople of all the types, and the building itself, with its big industrial windows and large open rooms, now available for events, is worth seeing.
The Screw Factory artists aren’t waiting for the holidays to open their spaces to guests: they’re hosting their fall open house this weekend. (They have others in October and November as well, with additional artists in October for their fall art show/open house.) Wander the long corridors and stop in the open doors to chat with an artist or maker and buy something directly from them that they made with their own hands as they tell you the story behind it.
