Spiders are NOT creepy!

The Greater Akron Audubon Society is honoring the memory of its first interpretive naturalist Bert Szabo, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 101 with a program called “Inspiring Spiders Tickle My Fancy,” featuring retired interpretative naturalist Pat Ryquist, a protege of Szabo’s.

Last summer, Ryquist attended an Ohio Sea Grant conference at The Ohio State University’s Gibraltar Island facility off Put-in-Bay where she was inspired by OSU spider specialist Dr. Rich Bradley, who supercharged her already existing enthusiasm for arachnids. At this free event, taking place at Summit Metro Parks’ Coventry Oaks Lodge (40 Axline Road, Akron), she’ll be passing along her excitement.
