Cleveland’s M.U.S.I.C. Stars in the Classics provides performance opportunities for talented, rising young classical musicians, with shows at a variety venues.
This week, M.U.S.I.C. will presenting a program at the Cleveland History Center: a commissioned piece called Tales of Euclid Beach Park, written by Cleveland musician Chris Neiner.
Neiner says, “This piece takes inspiration from Euclid Beach Park, a beloved Cleveland amusement park that operated from 1895 to 1969. Under the Humphrey family’s direction, the park became known for its attractions and iconic confections.”
The movements capture the feeling of the entrance arch, the Grand Carousel, the Dance Pavilion, the pier at sunset, and the park’s well-known roller coasters such as the Flying Turns.
Performers include violinist Maria Beyens, cellist Brendan Phelps, clarinet player Justin Wisner and Neiner on piano, plus dancers Lieneke Matte and Antonio Morillo.
The performance is included in regular museum admission. Come early and ride the carousel which now resides permanently at the Cleveland History Center. Beverages will be available for purchase. RSVP to stars@intheclassics.org
