Brent Kirby Hosts Folksinger Alex Bevan for a Storytelling and Music-Playing Tour of His Career

Wed 7/8 @ 6-8PM

Visible Voice Books has a series of Wednesday evening shows called Kitchen Table Songs. In these shows, host Brent Kirby, one of the area’s most prominent singer/songwriters, sits down at a real kitchen table with another singer/songwriter to talk about their background, influences  and creative process, followed by an audience Q&A, and then play a 45-minute set of their music.

This month’s guest may be the area’s best known and most accomplished singer/songwriter: Alex Bevan, whose career stretches back to his early days playing folk clubs in the late 60s. He released his first album in 1971, which has been succeeded by a couple of dozen more. He’s best known for his humorous mid-70s local hit, “Skinny Little Boy (from Cleveland, Ohio),” but those who follow him know that his material covers a wide range of moods from affectionate, to nostalgic, to deeply serious. And if you follow him, you know he’s still tossing off new lyrics almost weekly, while his guitar playing skills keep improving and his voice sounds as good as ever.

The program is free and open to all.
