Fri 4/19 @ 7PM
One of northeast Ohio’s most popular bands back in the late 70s and early-mid 80s was Lorain County’s Fayrewether, fronted by the charismatic vocalist who called himself Paul Fayrewether. The band was especially beloved for its outstanding renditions of songs by Genesis, complete with costumes, makeup and props. They weren’t strictly what’s come to be known as a “tribute band,” but certainly their Genesis sets and other progressive-style material helped them build their large fan base.
Fayrewether attempted some original material and released several albums, but never managed to incorporate their Genesis roots into an original style, and they broke up in the mid ’90s. Fayrewether has continued to perform occasional shows on his own, bringing in old-timers — and likely some newer fans too — who are still enthralled by his exceptional performances of prog-style material.
He’ll return to the House of Blues this weekend. Go here for tickets.
