While the 203-year-old congregation at Brooklyn Centre’s Archwood Church of Christ has been shrinking, the Julia De Burgos Cultural Arts Center, which has been leasing space in the church since 2018, has been expanding its programs. Now the two groups have found a solution for both: the church has transferred ownership of the building to Julia de Burgos, while it will continue to worship there. Read more.

Joe Walshcreated VetsAid in 2017 and since then it’s raised over $2 million for organizations supporting veterans and their families.“Picking up my first guitar as a kid in Columbus set me on a musical journey to Kent State, Cleveland and then the world,” says Walsh. “Now it is a great privilege for me to share the stage with my original James Gang buddies and with this incredible group of Ohio rock legends like Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, the Black Keys, the Breeders and Dave Grohl.” The concert date is November 13 at Columbus’s Nationwide Arena. Vintage Ohio, an annual event at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, gives wine lovers the chance to sample the offerings of a 18 Ohio wineries without spendng every weekend driving around the countryside. (With 300 in the state, there are still more to visit!)

In a surprise move this week, South Euclid Municipal Court Judge Gayle Williams-Byers announced that she was stepping down. Her statement said that she would resign/retire effective July 31, 2022. She was first elected in 2011 and she was the first Black woman on that court.
Other than court employees who are likely concerned about job security, not many people in the legal community will lose any sleep over the exit of Williams-Byers. Read more.
