The mission of the Cleveland-based Cinematic Symphony Orchestra is to perform movie music, sharing the beloved film scores that evoked the mood and action of those films.
This month, its concert at the Maltz Performing Arts Center, is called “Symphony of Horrors: Scores of Halloween,” so of course the audience will hear music that will sends shivers up their collective spine as they close their eyes and recall scenes from movies such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Omen, Saw, Psycho, Jaws, Beetlejuice, Halloween and more. And audience members are encouraged to come in costume — maybe even as a character from one of these films!
“There’s no better time of year to celebrate the music that has made generations of moviegoers scream, shiver, laugh, and jump out of their seats,” says the orchestra’s founder and music director Dr. Andrew Keller. “With more than 100 musicians performing some of Hollywood’s most iconic music from your favorite spooky films, Symphony of Horrors is the perfect way to celebrate the season.”
