It’s possible that by the time you read this, the show will be sold out: the Howlin Brothers haven’t been back to Lorain County’s Riverdog Barn ten times for no reason. And once again, their 11th visit this weekend will close the outdoor facility’s season as temperatures are dropping (They promise that two firepits will be fired up for this show!)
The Nashville-based trio, featuring Ian Craft on fiddle, mandolin and banjo, Jared Green on guitar and harmonica and Ben Plasse om upright bass, was founded by Craft and Green in 2003 during their college days in Ithaca, NY. It’s based on their love of traditional blues and bluegrass but they also draw on folk, country, jazz and gospel to create their polyglot sound. Their high-energy acoustic sets feature both traditional tunes and their own compositions written in a similar style.
Riverdog warns that the barn and one of the tents are already sold out, but if you hurry, you might be able to get a seat in the other tent. If not, act quicker next year — they’ll surely be back.
