We’ve heard a lot of hype about a downtown waterfront development, talk that’s increased since the city has apparently made some kind of deal allowing the football stadium to be demolished. That’s all fine and well but a lot of the plans seem aimed at tourists and affluent Clevelanders in the downtown and near west side luxury buildings.
We want to hear more talk about fixing the water access desert between Edgewater Beach and Euclid Beach Park where there’s no place to actually walk in the water — and a mini-beach downtown wouldn’t fix that much. But there are plans afoot to redo Gordon Park lakefront between East 55th and Martin Luther King Drive, dubbed the Cleveland Harbor Eastern Embayment Resilience Strategy aka CHEERS.
