Add Your Voice to a "Musicians Against Dictators" Sing-Along

Sat 8/23 @ noon

Bothered by what’s going on in our nation’s capital and specifically what is coming out of the White House? Come on down to the Perk Plaza on Chester behind Playhouse Square for “Musicians Against Dictators: Let Freedom Sing.”

All are welcome to join Cleveland’s legendary folksinger Alex Bevan and some orchestra musicians for a sing-along that’s sure to be uplifting and a lot of fun. Alex is an old hand at this sort of stuff, starting his career at the tail end of the ’60s folk revival and continuing to write and perform songs constantly — ballads and reflections on life as well as topical tunes.

The event will also feature remarks by Brian Pearson of the North Coast Federal of Labor; Augusto Gagliardi, president of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada; and Keith Carrick from the International Conference of Symphony and Orchestra Musicians, who are having their annual conference in Cleveland this week. And you’ll also have the opportunity to hear another important speaker: former and hopefully future Senator Sherrod Brown, who just announced this week that he will be running next year against Jon Husted, who was appointed by Governor DeWine to fill JD Vance’s empty seat after he was elected vice president.

It’s free and all are welcome.
