Sat 5/10 @ 2PM
The outrages, lawlessness and attacks on the common welfare keep escalating, and so do the protests which show no signs of tapering off. This weekend is Mother’s Day, and in honor of mothers and all others outraged by what’s happening in Washington D.C. and Ohio, Cuyahoga Democratic Women’s Caucus, Mobilize the Vote NEO, GRR (Grass Roots Resistance); GRAB (Grass Roots Activism Bay), Indivisible NEO and Americans Making Immigrants Safe (AMIS) will be rallying in Tremont’s Lincoln Park as “Mothers and Others Standing Against Fascism.” A group of Cleveland musicians will be contributing as Musicians Against Dictators (DAD).
“On Saturday, May 10, concerned citizens will gather in communities across Ohio to say no to the bullies and billionaires who are threatening our freedoms, stealing our children’s future and disappearing neighbors from our streets,” they say. “Come dressed in whatever makes you happy —maybe bright colors, rainbows, costumes. We are choosing to focus on JOY in these chaotic times!”
It’s a good time to remind people that the “pro-natalist” movement so warmly embraced by Ohio’s JD Vance offers no real solutions for families or ways to make childbearing and child-raising any easier: it’s a front for stripping women of their life choices. But these groups want to provide some actual help so they’ll be collecting products such as deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and diapers/wipes for families in need.
