CMNH Program Features Lecture, Music & Visuals to Explore Ecological Interconnectedness

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is offering a double-barreled evening on the theme of “Connecting to Our Ecosystem,” giving visitors a stronger sense of how interconnected all living things are.

The museum’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Gavin Svenson, will get things rolling with a talk about the importance of insects in our lives, the impact of climate change on them and things we can do to protect them so they can continue to play their vital role.

He’ll be followed by a unique music program called The Moth Project, featuring keyboard player Peter Kiesewalter and violinist Whitney La Grange. They’ll play a hgue variety of music, by artists such as Joni Mitchell, Kiss and Bach, accompanied by images of moths on a large screen: macro photos, slow-motion video and graphic rendering of moths that bring together science with myths and stories derived from Native-American culture.

CMNH’s new Origins Café will have food available for purchase and thee will be a cash bar open throughout the evening. Beer and wine will be available for purchase at a cash bar throughout the evening.  Doors are at 5pm; the lecure runs from 5:30-6p, with a Q&A following, and the musical performance from 6:30-7:45pm.
