The Musical Theater Project’s Christmas Cabaret Returns to East and West Side Venues

Fri 12/9 @ 8PM

Sat 12/10 @ 2PM

Sun 12/11, Mon 12/12 & Tue 12/13 @ 5:30PM

The Musical Theater Project’s Christmas Cabaret is back to put its own spin on the holiday season. No religious carols but lots of mid 20th century hit tunes that have become standards: Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” which was the bestselling RECORD (not just Christmas song) of all time in its version by Bing Crosby; the 1934 tune “Winter Wonderland,” which had hit versions by Guy Lombardo, Tony Bennett and Perry Como; Sammy Cahn & Jule Styne’s “Let It Snow,” written during a California heat wave in 1945; “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” first sung by Judy Garland in the 1944 film Meet Me in St. Louis, and 1939 tune “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” a #1 hit for … Gene Autry.

But then, you’ll probably hear these stories from the cast of the Christmas Cabaret, because they part of what they do is tell stories about what they perform.

They’ll be performing the show five times. They’re back at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Center on Friday and Saturday. But their former east side venue, Nighttown, remains closed, so they’re moving about ten minutes up the road to EDWINS TOO where they’ll perform Sunday-Tuesday and where presumably you can eat dinner while enjoying the music, just as you did back at Nighttown.
