Cleveland Musicians Remember John Lennon at Beachland Event

Thu 12/8 @ 6-11PM

It was a dismal Monday night in December when news came that John Lennon had been shot and killed just outside his residence at the Dakota in New York by a crazy “fan.” Lennon had recently ended a hiatus from making music, leaving people yearning to hear what he would’ve done next. And it drove home that the Beatles were over and there could be no meaningful reunion of a band whose magic was the balance of four unique personalities: plugging in a “son of” just wouldn’t do it.

Now, on the 42nd anniversary of his death, a gaggle of local musicians is gathering at the Beachland Ballroom to honor this large-than-life, influential musician. The event, John Lennon Remembered, was created and organized by Kendall Stauffer, who also hosts. It will feature solo artists, bands and duo/trio combinations of musicians, among them prominent Cleveland folk musician Alex Bevan, singer/songwriters Angelle Sheridan and Colette Gschwind, fingerstyle acoustic guitarist Brian Henke, former Raspberries drummer Jim Bonfanti and many others.

Tickets are $5 and all money raised goes to the nonprofit Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future. Get tickets here.
