Sand Sculptor Creates Giant Work for Medina Arts Week

Mon 7/10 & Tue 7/11 @ noon

Medina Arts Week runs from Sunday July 9 through Sunday July 17, with a batch of special events.

One of those is the giant sand sculpture that Cleveland-based professional sand sculptor Carl Jara will create near the Medina Square, which he’ll construct early in the week to be enjoyed throughout the event. He won’t share what he will be doing so you’ll just have to come down and see!

Jara holds about nine World Championships in sand sculpting — bet you didn’t know that was a thing! — and also uses his construction and design creativity in his day job as  exhibits artisan/technician at the Cleveland Museum of Nature History.

You can come down to watch and hear his story when he does a presentation on sand sculpting techniques on Monday July 11 @ noon at the gazebo on Medina Square; he’ll do another for kids at the same time and place on Tuesday July 12.
