Fourteen local writers contributed the poems, essays and dramatic pieces that make up Literary Cleveland’s “How Do We Talk To Each Other?” a staged reading being performed as part of the 2022 Cleveland Humanities Festival.
The pieces deal with communication, conversation and dialogue, they tell us, “between friends or family members, dialogue across cultural difference or political divide, and communication between humans, nonhuman animals, and even artificial intelligence. In an age of political polarization, social media arguments, pandemic Zoom meeting, and global unrest, this performance asks viewers to reflect on not only the message but the medium; not only what we say to each other but how we say it; not only who speaks up, but who is heard.”
Playwright/performer/former Literary Cleveland Executive Director Christine Howey has directed a cast of professional actors to the works at the auditorium of the downtown Cleveland Public Library’s Stokes Wing. It’s free but reservations are requested.
