Lakewood “Bicycle Attorney” Talks About His New Book on Cycling Rights

Thu 10/22 @ 6PM

Cleveland lawyer Ken Knabe calls himself Cleveland’s “bicycle attorney.” He’s been a bicyclist himself since he was a child and as a nearly 40-year trial attorney, he’s continued to ride regularly year-round, including distance rides and charity rides such as Velosano.

His specialty is taking cases for riders who have been injured on the road, as he himself has. He says, “I know how it feels to be left on the pavement, half-clipped-in with absolutely no concern on the motorist’s part as to whether I was okay. I have many clients who’ve been hit and seriously injured, and I’ve lost a friend to a fatal bike crash. I can empathize with someone who has been hit, and I take these kinds of cases personally.”

He’s also a member of many bike advocacy organizations such as Bike Cleveland, which is hosting the launch for his book Cycling Rights: Bicycles, E-Bikes & Micro-Mobility Devices. The book outlines what rights and responsibilities cyclists have on the road and how they can keep themselves as safe as possible while sharing the road.

Knabe will talk about the book answer questions in the online discussion. It’s open to all; registration is required. And you can buy the book on the Bike Cleveland online shop with all proceeds going to support the nonprofit advocacy group.
