Lit Cleveland’s Inkubator Conference Expands and Moves Online

Mon 7/13-Fri 7/31

It’s the sixth year for Literary Cleveland’s annual Inkubator conference. In the past it’s hosted a series of events at the Cleveland Public Library over a period of several days.

This year is different though, and rather than cancelling the conference, they got creative. They’ve expanded it over a period of three weeks, with more than 25 events, with a new public event available online each day. They include readings, panel discussions, open mics and multi-week workshops, offering more opportunities to more people, including those who would not have been able to come down to the library. They include such topics as “Intro to Food Writing,” “Practical Principles for Writing Poems” and “Words from the Front: Journalism, Justice, and Black Lives Matter.”

They call it “a public celebration of writing in Cleveland that advances writers’ individual abilities, furthers artistic dialogue, fosters a more connected literary community, and invites more people to write.” And it’s all free.

Delivering the keynote address is former Pulitzer Prize-winning Plain Dealer journalist and syndicated columnist Connie Schultz, who recently released her first novel, The Daughters of Erietown, drawing from her experiences growing up in Ashtabula. That’ll happen on July 25.
